I will be putting the a12 flywheel and clutch onto the a15! Can anyne suggest or know the torque settings for the flywheel and clutch??

Also, why do many people mention a sesries motors as having oval port heads? Do all a series have oval port heads? Just curious!

The factory Sunny [B310] manual says that the Tightening Torque for the flywheel fixing bolts is
77 to 88 N-m
8.0 to 9.0 kg-m
58 to 65 ft-lb [sic] Isn't it supposed to be lb-ft?

If you buy yourself a workshop manual you can have all of the info at your fingertips without delay.

Cylinder heads with round inlet ports were used on A10, 1200, & A12 engines.
Cylinder heads with oval inlet ports were used on 1200GX, A12GX, A12A, A13 [?] A14GX, A14 & A15 engines. The actual size of the port varies between some of these engines.
The inlet manifolds are not interchangeable between round & oval port heads.

What about exhaust ports between the a12 and a15? Are they the same size and shaPE?

Hi SUNEE,

Sounds like you need to read our Tech Section articles:

Engine Swap info

yeah... i thikn you need to do at LEAST some research before asking question...

seems like you don't know anything about it and asking every details about it. the only thing you know is that people change from A12 to A15...

There is lots of article and threads on this topic. that is what the search button is for.

I too started like you do, knowing nothing at all. but as soon as i get the engine i started to study it and do the transplant step by step.

sorry for being harsh, but sometimes you gotta be cruel to be kind

Thanks for the info ddgonzal. I have already read through the tech section but most applies to datsun 1200 models whilst I own a sunny. Therefore shifting engine mounts to fit the a15 isnt necessary and the remaining information Im familiar with!

Ocphangaz, your right dont know much about a series motors and still learning! Swapping the engines over is easy, its just the little detials that I am unsure about e.g. sumps, a12 extractors fitting on an a15 head! These are issues that cannot be found in manuals easily and therefore I thought that many people on this site could give me some advice before I commence!

Thanks to the remaining who have been very helpful. I will post pictures up as soon as the conversion is complete!

since you're being so nice,

here's my setup on my A15... i'm broke so i've migrated from my old A12 parts to A15... I'm driving a 1982 sunny... same as yours...

things that stayed; custom 4-1 extractor, Hitachi Carbs, gearbox, distributor, air filter

Things that changed; engine, intake manifold, radiator, flywheel(lightened)

extractors need some mod/grinding to fit with the manifold.
