Hi Datsun 1200 club.

I have just noticed the Datsun 1200 club, so thought I would join and enjoy some 1200 talk.

I am an old bloke. I have owned my 1971 Datsun 1200 for 20 years. It is still road registered, and runs nice. I had some minor door rust fixed and a paint job done when I first bought the car in 1985. It has not yet developed any further rust other than surface runs from under the chrome strips. It has not had much use in the time I have had it, just like shopping typically. It has one small dent in the bonnet. Really still in amazingly good condition. Still remains unmodified eg. original in all respects.

So there are still a few around that are not rusted out. Smiles and kind regards.

Firstly, Welcome to 1200 club from me. The 1200 was a car that sadly very prone to rust & there are some around with only small mount of rust in them. But they have had some work done them sometime in the past? Example the original owner of my 63 bluebird 1200 ute has a 77 1200 ute these days & looks great, but you can tell it's been fix up in past, but still looks original. The original owner's of the 1200 ute was a old couple who didn't wanted to drive on the road anymore at 47,900 kms on speedo? So there is some good ones around with luck on you side, you can find them? It be nice be to see you comments in the future. Bruns
