@nisma18

I am from Pakistan. my A12 was worn out. it was giving smoke and was giving 11km/litre.
I have recently overhauled the engine and so would like to know what mileage i can expect from the new engine.

thanks

of course with aircond on... never drive in one without... malaysia is running at 30C average

my car?

A15 stock, lightened flywheel, electric radiator fan, DCH306 (A12 carb), port matched manifold (A15 manifold), stromberg, borch super 4 plugs, conoco Gold 10W-40 semi-synthetic, tuffoil, bardahl1, 60A gearbox, 4-1 extractor, 1.6" exhaust.

my car is a daily driver between cyber and cheras,.. i'm doing about 1000km per week because my job requires me to travel around a lot.

i service my car every 8000km (2 months) and checked the contact point every 2000km, set to 0.20" gap

for those in malaysia planning to overhaul their A12... i'll advise not to do so...

change to A15. it costs me about RM600+ for the engine and another RM300+ for the engine transplant and othe misc.

the engine match up with the A12 engine mounting perfectly so no mod jobs needed.

and it is JPJ approvable. (make sure you get your engine from japs not vanettes in malaysia) also get approval to change the engine first before doing the transplant. i found it out the hardway.

do a read up in the internet on water injection. basically it is mixing water vapor to the air/fuel mixture to reduce detonation in high timing engines, cleaning the engine from carbon deposits, reduce fuel consumption, reduce cyclinder temp, and smoothens the engine at high revs

wow, ur car really clocks alot of mileage.cyber to cheras aint near! im interested in how u maintain ur contact point. really want to learn oso lah..prefer DIY. once i DIY,open, clean, put back kenot start..LOL have to call my dad who is more experienced to fix it back.

my car is hard to start and maintain ilding in d mornings. that car is not used daily though. but when properly warmed up its perfectly fine! smooth as new. no black smoke or whatever, except when u really press it hard..got smoke la..do u think it needs overhaul?

i changed my engine because of my old A12 is literally drinking mineral oil! about 3 litre in 5 days!

my mechanic advice to do conversion as it'll costs the same, but with a better engine (A15)

as you know what B310 in malaysia comes with manual choke carb. but in my car, my choke assembly have been removed (by me) as we don't really need it here.

the rough idle is due to carb icing in cold mornings. you can test this by touching the carb after just 1 minute of starting the engine. the carb will be freezing cold due to petrol evaporation. but as the engine warms up, so does the underhood temp. this will keep the carb cozy and prevent icing.

I've been using my A15 for 5 years. and i learned a lot of tuning from this site. you can do a read up from the tech section on the maintenance of the engine, distributor and carb. all the specs are given also.

ps. when you re-gap or clean the contact point, make sure your feeler is clean, and wife the contact point with paper towel after sand paper and adjusting the gap with feeler to remove any oil residue

went to the site, it won't let me register.. secondly it is ONLY one thread with 19 pages of posts. and they are NOT really hardcore DATSUN owners... real datto owners do their cars themselves ;).. well most of it...

that is why i love datsun1200.com! :D:D
