Will a 1200ute diff fit in a 1000 with no housing mods??

The spring mounts are different widths apart.

The Torsen style diffs were used by Nissan in their mid 80's works cars (240RS) for half a season, but they found two main problems with them :
1. The "liquorice" cross gears wore out quickly
and
2. When power was applied quickly the diff tended to lock and make the car understeer.

The Torsens were also fitted X factory to the R33 GTR's but they changed back to a clutch pack system after problems. There is a Nismo replacement for them using a clutch pack type.

This doesnt mean they are bad, just that they require a different driving style and for you to be aware this can happen.

In a normal street driving application or where a locking action does not matter to your driving style they are a good "and a lot cheaper" alternative to clutch pack LSD's.

I am interested in one for my stanza coupe project if the order gets to the required size.

Top gear, I assume you work at PPG or similar?

Use the later carrier from a Series 1 bluebird or late datto 1200 ute for the best example of an H165B carrier.

I should add that NISMO replaces the VLSD's with CPLSD's on its sponsored race, drift and rally cars here in the States.

Yep thats because the viscous units turn to mush when overheated or stressed over a long period, to replace them you have to replace as a unit as they are not rebuildable.

Hey guys, I hope I have answered all your questions?? I have definately received more interest than I thought there was!

As far as strength goes, these type of LSDs have been used in cars with excess of 600hp

I have to go away for a week or so and dont have access to email where I am going, if you are interested in an LSD best thing to do would be just send me a personal message with the type of LSD you want, eg H145, H150 or H165. Then I can see who is serious an who is not??

Hi,
I have 1200 sedan rally car (CAMS Class A) and need a diff centre.
I currently have a ute axle set-up and had a 4.1 lsd but the centre has died and I'm looking to fit a H165 centre with a 4.875 ratio.
In your post you mentioned the H165 B type 1 and the type 2 from a Bluebird (RWD Maxima) and C20m Vanette.
My question is what are the number of teeth on the crown or pinion to be a 4.875 and which one has the 8 bolt pattern. Which is the one that will fit the ute bolt pattern)?
Do you still have any diffs for sale that I'm looking for?
Any information will be gratefully appreciated.

Hi,

I rally a 1200 sedan (CAMS Class A) and am interested in getting an LSD H165 centre with the 4.875 ratio.
Do you still sell these?
I'm after the one with the 8 bolt pattern to match the Ute axle set-up (the existing 4.11LSD has died).

Any information will be gratefully appreciated.
