You build an engine...

Hey all just to put a few ideas together and to hav a bit of fun i was wondering what would be the best way to build an a14 or a15 your choice. The max budget you ca spend is $3000AUD. its for a street car and want a lil bit of fun. tell us you ideas. i have already upgraded my brakes. cant wait to see your lists...

wow $3000 on an engine only eh! that should be a fun motor
I would start with having the block cleaned up and bored out to 1600cc's have the crank knife edged and balanced, rods shotpeened and balanced then some high comp pistons with standard nissan or king compression rings, oil rings and bearings. I would have the head shaved to a comprssion ratio of 11.5:1 and fitted with cut down 1600 valves and ported out to a JTS manifold gasket print and polished up, fit a set of double valve springs, 54/86 cam shaft with adjustable cam gear and timing cover from datrats, fit a bluebird dizzy with A series sprocket, electric water pump, TF gemini radiator, twin weber carbs, lightened fly wheel, jet hot coated inside and outside mandrel bent extractors, fill it up with synthetic oil and hich octane fuel and give it a blast yeeeehaaa

Good sugestions, When its time for my motor to be rebuilt again , Iv got a piston kit from Japan that needs tobe bored in order to fit. Any 1 know the max you can bore a A15? jsut wondering

79mm is usually safe... they're getting 80mm out of select blocks at Pitroad here in Japan.

wow ok ummm i think 3000 is way to much maby 1500 i didnt think u coudl get that much done for that money. what sort of power do you reckon you would get from a 3K motor?

That's the best bargain engine in town. I dunno who does your work, but he works cheap.
What bore size do you use to get 1600cc's and what pistons? What modifications do you need to do to the pistons to make them fit and work. I recon that there's more than $3000 in parts, or modifications to parts alone in this engine. Quote:

Doesn't the cost depend on what you already have. For example, I have twin Dellorto's, scorcher electronic distributor & headers. Also for a street engine, how much of this work is necessary?

you could get away with fitting a GX head with double valve springs, street cam and a bit of mild porting on the head.
$120 for a cam regrind $1000-$1500 for a GX head or A15 closed chamber head with porting job and double valve springs with a well set up pair of dellortos on an A12 you could get maybe 85 hp at the wheels
