The Bathurst 1200s used to pull 11,000+rpm down conrod straight... this was possible 30 years ago.

Do you think? My car jumps off the line. I've always found the bigger cars slower off the mark, ususally I get the jump on even really fast cars and lead until they get some boost going in third gear, then they're gone...

I wouldn't have said it if I didn't think it was true. I know my stocker used to pull 6600 before valve bounce on the stock A12. I too think it's sounds outrageous. I'll have to find the reference. I think I read it in one of my old 70s wheels magazines.

gx man thank you
i am going to try and get the person from SPEED AND SOUND magazine here is South Africa to try and load the feature that he personally did on the car when the car ran those times at the street event in Durban
with some photos of the car as well.
Unfortunatlly I am not so clued up to post these this article myself as this computer stuff gets the better of me.this could possibly be captured in the issue of 46 of the SPEED AND SOUND magazine web site
If any body can please help with loading this feature from the magazine and post it on this forum I would greatly aappreciate it.
The web site is www.speedandsound.co.za
Thank you
