is that minnesh's car?
is this the kind of 'drag strip' they use in SA? looks like a suburban street...
where's the timing equipment and the tree?
are they using handheld stopwatches to 'time these things? I guess it would explain the lack of timeslip :lol
must get awesome traction off the line at this 'track'

No wesbank for me , have to work (no cash for travel - damn), but good luck 4 you guys. Theres only one other strong 1400 from pretoria that runs in the 13s naturally asp., one of the Jordaans (dark blue fast back GX). You guys need to come this side sometime too, show the 2l kadett crowd a thing or two, lots of em here with oversize heads!!
cheers - Bones

This particular event was held on a closed off public road cause Durban doesn't have a dedicated drag track built yet. Believe it or not we do have other "real" tracks in SA, with good timing equip, but because we live in a third world country where most of taxpayers money ends up in crooked politicians back pockets, and not in sport facilities, we have to make do.
As for the tree/timing equip you can't see in the photo - maybe because if you put said equip inline with the cars, the drivers wouldn't be able to see it too well out the front windscreen, clever boy!!

This one shows the timing gear.
Incidently, we do the same sort of thing out here, because there is no dedicated drag strip. The car club has laid down a section at a local airstrip and they set timing gear up. There's even been 1/8 mile drags set up on Pit Straight at Mt. Panorama. Not ideal, but its fun.

So how would they time it? You do have a grasp on timing drag racing, don't you? How else could the timing equipment work other that being in line with the cars?

Pictures of this car on the starting line, with or without timing equipment, isn't too convincing to this claim of a 13.85 sec. pass, by the way.
