My 1200 has air conditioning, and because of that, it has a double crankshaft pulley. (The extra pulley runs the compressor)

I looked for over and hour today and can't find the timing marks on the *(#$@ pulley!

Are they supposed to be on top or on the face of the pulley? I hooked up my timing light, and also bumped the engine around quite a bit, but still couldn't locate them.

I'm wondering if the dealer changed over to the double row pulley, they might have used one with no timing marks on it?

While you are figuring that one out, I don't suppose you could let us have a picture or two of the aircon installation.
I'm assuming that your car has a 1200 engine & not the later A12/14/15 type.

I'm VERY curious to know how it was done as I would like to be able to run air in my coupe with the early type engine.

Should be in the normal spot... both my utes have this pulley and the mark is on the edge of the pulley closest to the engine. If you have an early A12 timing case you may not have the marks to time it correctly though, as they only had one mark and the original early A12 pulley would have had the extra marks.

Dodgeman... I've got some pics of early A12 A/C setups but they probably wouldn't work with your induction setup.

You'll probably have to turn the engine over by hand and look for it more carefully since the engine probably won't stop where you want it to by itself.

Sure, I should be able to take some pics of that tomorrow.

By that, I will assume you mean that my motor has the one timing mark on the cover, versus the later ones that have the large, easy-to-read marks on the cover. Mine has the single hash mark on the timing cover.

hhmmm...What a nice option. They add a/c but then you can't time it! Gotta love that.

There is one mark that looks like it was hit with a chisel. I'll set the motor to TDC and see if this mark represents TDC. If so, I think I can guestimate it from there. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.

Thanks for the help!

Actually I was refering to the aircon mounting. The 1974 & later engines were revised to allow the fitting of aircon. The altenator was moved from low on the left to a new spot high on the right. This is why the distributior was moved, to make room for the altenator. The left side of the block was then cast with threaded boss' to allow the mounting of the compressor in the old altenator position.

What I want to learn is how they mounted aircon compressors on the early, front distributor engines. [1970 - '73]

Ahh! Now I see what you mean. I will post some pics in this thread a little later today.

It's really tight in there, and I don't know how much of the mounting bracket I can get in the photo, but I'll see what I can do for you.
