120fly have you considered making a plug from scratch for the GX bonnet? I am thinkin that someone round here that has one could take plenty of photo's and measurements, & perhaps trace thye main character lines out or something like that, and then just go from there. you might not get it perfect but I'm sure they would still sell as long as it was close enough that you had to put it next to an original to pick the difference (i.e within a few mm for all the measurements)

I agree with Grunterhunter. If youre planning on doing that much work to the bonnet before taking a mould off it anyway, just spend another hour or two making the GX hump on a standard bonnet. Have to be cheaper than $400 for you too. I don't think you're going to get one for that money, and most people probably won't be willing to sell one to you to destroy for any price! i think the exclusivity of the GX bonnet is siomething most GX bonnet owners would prize more than $400.

If you were going to take measurements and make new fiberglass hoods I would love to see a modified GX hood rather than a standard GX one. Have a much higher raise in the center/bulge for even greater engine/hood clearance, and put some aero function to it like a ram air vents. Or have a raised center bulge and have it go into a cowl induction style vent at the rear of the bulge. At least with something like that you could have it look cool AND actually do something (cool off the engine bay more or run a ram air setup. Up in Japan they remade stock type hoods for 1200's in carbon fiber that had some ducts, but it was styled kinda tacky (they're available on Yahoo Japan usually). This is what I'd have in mind:

Gotta love nostrils. every muscle car should have nostrils

Would look tough and upset the pontiac GTO brigade

Especially on a CA or SR converted car cos it would be quicker than a GTO as well
