when i ran my webber 32/36 blow through setup, i ran a EFI pump (saab), with a RR reg boosted from a T piece on the wastgate, set my base fuel pressure at about 4-5, and as boost increases, the returne line is resricted causing overall pressure to rise, hardest thing was setting my float level.
worked great, never ran lean, never used a surge tank.

kegs mate..............

you don't seem to listen when you are told, i was explaining it to you on msn one day, i feel the same way as phunk

I think thats a bit much to say. I dont feel the same as you. You make it sound like you're the boss and you are telling a kid " this is the way it has to be done"
Give Kegs some credit. He wants to set it all up the best way possible. That involves getting views from more than 1 or 2 perspectives. So its a case of listening but still seeking more ideas.

I dont believe that with such a small tank and being a street car, that a surge tank is required. I have never experienced or seen a 1200 suffer from surge. I believe if you only run $5 worth of fuel you will though.
Cutting costs isnt the way to do it. Try and do it right the first time.

are you using a surge tank with an efi pump??? you probably should as even with a surge tank i have managed to empty it (1.8ltrs) on long up-hill runs, im considering installing a second lift pump which i can turn on when expecting long sessions of boost

Statements like that leave me baffled. You emptied it going up hill. Where was your fuel pickup in the tank and how much fuel was in the tank. If adding a second pump will fix it, maybe think about getting a pump that can flow the required amount to start with.

Currently Kegs is experimenting for himself to see the results, and then his final setup will be put into place. To easy.

hey fellas, i'm not sure on the whole carby fuel pump thing... but on the surge tank i reckon that if you can make one at work cheaply it's stupid not to put one in. if you are spending money on a brand new pump you are risking $ every time you accelerate around a corner, which i'm sure you'll be doing! 1200rc didn't empty his tank coz of too much boost (i was there, i'm not having a crack) the feed must have not been picking up properly. it is actually physically impossible to run a surge tank dry from too much boost.

silvia's etc all have in tank pumps so they'll be of no use to you. VL turbo or NA or Camira (allegedly the same thing) will do the job and if you are experimenting it might pay to get a second handy from the wreckers i've used a few in the past and had no issues... $17 well spent and you get the rubber mount with it.

good luck mate!

a mate of mine has a cordia turbo pump i am going to buy, i think vl turbo pump is too big the extra flow will probly be harder to get back to the tank than a 1.8 litre turbo pump, as for the surge tank i now see that i will need one i mustnt have been thinking the other night.... probly be easy as to make at work. what about lift pumps do they have to be efi pressure or what? my mates car has holley blue i seem to remember they are carby pumps??

if the cordia pump is cheap grab it, vl pumps are hard to find sometimes as they are so popular

lift pump is just an electric pump off a carby car, not a holley blue or anything special, just the cheapest pump you can find basically (expect it to run 3-5psi pressure, they are reffered to as low pressure/high volume pumps)

phunk, you make it sound like that not me, i and no-one else ive seen on this site claims to know everything, relax mate

thanks for that phunk, its not a case of me not listening i just want more opinions, it just seems that way.anyways dunno what ill do yet at this stage over xmas im just trying to get the motor in to see if i can get it to run, its still a brand new motor and i doubt it will be running good enough to drive it in a matter that may cause surging so probly wont put the surge tank on,anyways thats something i can put in the car without stopping me from driving so i can do that whenever. facet carby pumps are cheap and jeff taylor always has em sitting at his place ill grab one next time im there.

For you 1200rallycar

Merry Christmas.
I dont know what its got to do with this thread, but I work on my cars when I want and when I am not tired from working my arse off on other peoples cars afterhours.

So 1200rallycar hows your car going? Whats the total cost of your car so far?
I hear that when Go_the_Datto originally built the twin turbo setup you bought, he had an A12 running harder than you have even had an A15 run. I find things like that kinda funny

yeah, cause that's the full story...... he got better times at the drags cause when i went i wasnt getting fuel pressure, couldnt rev over 4000rpm, couldnt fully load it without the motor dying, so yeah that day wasnt very succesfull your right, but that got sorted like a week later, and that was over a year ago i would think

if ya want to pick on me accuse me of not being able to get the injected setup to make as much power up top as the carbie setup did

just curious do you even have a datto on the road/running or just the dust/rust collectors you are "re-building"
