I just can't understand why he thinks hes done anything new or unique (or for that matter why he's posting here at all). This has all been done ad naseum, even the craptastic taillights. This guy should head over to hyridz.org and jack around with a group who just *might* give a sh!t.

I don't know what's funnier: "mr240z" or the usually sane datsun1200.com members he's inciting.

The comments by "mr240z" are so ludicrous that I refuse to believe such a person actually exists outside of TV cartoon.

Perhaps a lurker or mate of mr240z has assumed the identity?

Or maybe it's just mikali having himself a good laugh?

Anyone who sticks....etc.... or auto in a 240Z ....
And why on earth would you put an auto in a sports car?
I assume that the sentiment about the auto trans would also apply to such true classics as the AC Shelby Cobra, yet two were built new with such a trans.
One of them is still owned [i believe] by the original owner, a fellow by the name of Carol Shelby. I was also of the belief that the other was built for Bill Cosby & it ran either twin turbo's or a 427 cammer [or both, I forget]
If an auto is good enough for the father of both the Cobra & the Viper, then it's good enough for me.

When adequate power is available, I don't think an auto is any sort of dissadvantage, & while I think this particular Z is a yawn, I think it qualifies under the heading of 'adequate power'

The Z was a mass produced Datsun, yet we have no reservations about performing similar mechanical changes to our own much loved mass produced Datsuns with the fitment of L series, CA, SR, & FJ engines. [and more] If the Z was a hand built, limited production classic, then I might agree, but it isn't, instead, like our own beloved rides, it's just another car. Is it a classic? Not yet, but eventually when it becomes rare enough.

mass produced cars can't be classics.

I could care less about the cobra or viper or what trans yanks stick in their 'sports' cars.

The 240Z was one of the most significant Japanese vehicles ever produced, and are certainly considered a classic.

well, except for things like this, which looked tacky and dated 3 years ago, let alone now...
