anyone else had problems with pm? I can sign in, but can't check my pm's, I can see when I have new ones but when I go to click on my messages, it tells me I must register first??? not sure what that is?

sometimes the reason can be too high settings on your security not allowing cookies to be logged. next time try turning off you firewall temporarily and see if it works then.

Don't turn off the Windows XP firewall -- too dangerous. If you have a different brand, turn on the XP firewall, then turn off the other one. The XP firewall will not prevent you from using datsun1200.com. Others may.

Do you have something called "NORTON"? Other users reported problems with that program.

Lastly, take a look at this discussion that was about a similar problem: The great 1200.com lockout

thanks for that guys, I'll look into it. Funny thing is on my girlfriends computer I can see them but not check them, so then I have to drag out my vintage laptop and warm it up for 10mins before I can get on the net!

I'm not much chop when it comes to computers...

It depends. I'm on 56k dialup and have never had a problem, however, those on cable modem and DSL get attacked all the time - and often without going to any web site, not even starting the web browser. The attack comes over the connection, not through the web browser. Some people have had their PC attacked as soon as they installed Windows before they could enable the firewall! SP2 fixes that problem, as it enables the firewall during installation.

Anyways, it's like saying: just drive carefully and you don't need insurance ...

Back to topic, sometimes those fancy "privacy", "security" or antivirus "suite" programs make it so that you can't sign in or otherwise view a legitimate web site -- like Datsun1200.com.
