Phunk
I didnt even think about that. Although I do have the extra 1200 motor in my garage, along with the 4spd gear box.

The kids want me to build a Lotus replicar. I saw one with a datsun engine installed. I still have the pics on my puter

Thanks Ang, maybe I just flew by it. How's the sedan? Anything new?

Is there bad blood 'round this thread? Or just joshin' 'round? I was away for a bit.

this thing's not any bigger than an a15 cam I bet

The advertised cam event for the 1200 GX cam is 256degrees with the following specs.
Inlet opens 20 degrees BTDC
Inlet closes 56 degrees ABDC
Exhaust opens 58 degrees BBDC
Exhaust closes 18 degrees ATDC

I suspect that these figures are at zero lift & I have absolutely no idea what the A15 cam specs are.

These wont work in an A14 ?

Nah wont 'work' in A14 if you plan to run a distributor in the stock position. Its missing the gear to drive it.

Without the additional drive gear to engage the rearward positioned distributor in 74 & later engines, this cam can not be used if you expect the engine to run [or work] in a basicly standard configuration. [ie, with a distributor]
They will only fit '& work' in the A10 & 1200 engines [up to 73] Did I say '& work' before. Oh yeah, I did.

Well well well,
Looks like a case of hands on vs text book once again.
This cam will fit any nissan A series and it will happily control valve timing acurately allday long. Like I wrote before, If you plan to run the stock dissy in the stock location in an A14 or any A series 74 and up - this cam wont work. Any other method of crank angle sensing will happily work with this cam.
Below are 2 examples;

Below is a Nismo Ultra setup. If Nismo can run the ignition of an A series without a pickup in a dissy, I think anyone can if they use their brain.

So basically the below post is bullcrap if it continues to contain the word ONLY.

i know what ur getting at phunk and maybe the question couldve been worded more correctly, but for most ppl if they want to use this in anything other than an a10 or 12, the setup u show is out of reach.

Its got nothing to do with the original question. My first reply answered that exactly and couldnt get anymore clearer and simpler.
You are right though Kegs, most people wouldn't bother going to the describe extent to overcome cam twist effecting ignition on a street motor.

My response is due to the stated proclaimed silent E post which is utter bullcrap. This cam can be used in any Nissan A series. To say otherwise is bull. For proclaimed silent E to go and edit his last post even after I had quoted it, shows exactly how dodgy he is.

This is of course coming from a man that was roundly condemned in a recent thread for his support of the notion that it is OK to engage in blatant overservicing in the motor trade.
Give it a rest phunk. Your pettiness is becoming a bore and your posts are sounding like a schoolgirl throwing a hissy fit
Yes, we know that post editing is a flogging offence while unethical trade practices are perfectly legal, yawn, now give it a rest.

P.S. I'm taking bets on how long before phunk dumps some crap on me. He has to have the last word, no matter what.

You know what, I will happily reply to a post like that.
So what did you plan to achieve by posting that? proclaimed silent E's respect?
I dont stand for bullshit, I dont talk bullshit and I wont leave bullshit uncorrected. If he or anyone is happy to post something. They should definately be happy to receive questions off their statements.
So with your post - who is the one who sounds like a school girl? seems like a bit of a hissy fit post to me.
Oh yeah, reguardless of what some fools think of me, I know what others think also. Neither of which I require to happily live. How about yourself?
No point me taking bets on what people think of you. Mainly because I dont care and I am sure many think your a tool for most of your posts.
Take care. Maybe go suck a lemon.

Oh gee great post. Need backup do we?
I am sure I can dig up plenty of stuff that was said to me over the years. I am sure I have even been called phunkdoctatoss once or twice.
So do you got any proof?
Do you got anything really insulting that you can throw at me or even bite from another member in a sad attempt to try and hurt my feelings?
Sad, real sad.
I think I am gonna cry myself to sleep tonight.
What a tool.
Take care. I am sure someone out there cares what you say.
Is this pic school girl enough for you?Open in new window
