as far as i know my brothers exa did over 300,000k's and he used to travel 1500k's at a time, once he pulled a trailer bigger than the car full of crap and hauled it 500ks and the only thing that had to be replaced on his car was the turbo (cause it was old) and we had new valves put in the head (cause it broke a timing belt that was way old) so in my opinion they are great motors, besides me and my other brother cained the #### out of it.

The E15T engine is in my experience very reliable, reasonably light, strongly constructed and worth doing as a replacement engine. I have one I built up in my VB11 van. On gas it made 180 FWhp with a modified T25.

The head problems they have usually result from cooling system faults left unattended such as clogged radiators.

Distributor problems result from moisture in electrical connections and distributor bodies. The dissys use a photo optical sender unit nearly identical to FJ20T and CA18DET's and are very reliable with good connections.

MRD (Murphy Racing Developments) in Bayswater Victoria has just run a high 10 second pass in their ET and it is very reliable.

I am looking at fitting one up with an A series 63A box to fit into a 4 door 310. I reckon they are great little engines that are under utilised for swaps.

I just converted a pulsar dizzy for my A15. does anyone have the wiring diagram for this bit? I wanna know if the pulsar coil uses straight 12v or goes thru a resistor.

Too bad it isn't like the fwd SR20DE which has a casting for a rwd distributor placement.

(Found this old thread while searching for GA18DE info. There isn't any!)

Oh yeah, please try to slow this 1600 down:

Not quite sure why youd want to use an E15 engine anyway...all sorts of reliability problems

dude, you have a problem with ANYTHING not A series.

E15s are a good engine.

BUT

get the turbo version head. it flows much better than the the NA version.

trust me, we found out the hard-and-often-more-expensive-way.
