Your right there cameron in a 1200 would be ok for drag racing only but not really any good for circuit work.In a bigger car its a different story. My mate in a Lh torana with VG30 quad cam turbo has been going quite well around the same weight as an old 308 but more power a lot quiter and sits a lot further back too. here is a picture

Too heavy for a 1200...your turn in would be ridiculously dangerous. It would be OK for drag racing though....if you could get traction. Try the new generation VQ35 out of the new 350Z standard config they have 206kw and weigh up to 30% lighter. (140kg) This is still quite heavy for the 1200 though. Thats why the CA18DET is still great lightweight, room to fit in the engine bay and plenty of reliable HP on tap.

Eddie measured the weight of his 1200 ute after the VG30 was put in: 900kgs or 1980lbs. But that includes bigger struts, brakes, engine and transmission.

Isn't that about 200kgs more than the stock setup?

VG30 in Datsun 1200

The turbos are quite heavy:
VG30ET - 392 pounds
VG30DETT - 520lbs

Compare to the CA18DET at only 128 kg 282 lbs
