I'm located in Santa Barbara, CA. Do you have any pictures you could send me? Distance is not all that important, as I often travel to the east
coast on business.

To errrnstak, My coupe is a mess. It has been sitting for most of the past ten years. I put an A14 in it, stock 65 HP with a 77 model HD 5-speed. I drove it to DC last year and got 43 MPG
cruising at 70 MPH. It is wrecked in the left front an bit. It was wrecked when I got it. I found a fender but it is rusted a bit also. I put in almost everything new to the suspension. It was wrecked once before and another right front was welded into it but they didnot do the greatest of jobs on that. I have been thinking about keeping it and redoing everything on it, since I found this club. I had a sedan from new in 72 until 89 and that was my most favorite car ever. A lady friend named it Mario because it handled so well in 74. In 81 I built a hell of a little motor for it and it ran like a bat out of hell and a friend's 11 year old named it Mareo Speedwagon. I don't think I want to sell it. I live in Knocksville, TN. You said that you come to the east coast sometimes, I only live less than five miles from I-40. Contact me and drop by if you ever get close to here. I havenot seen another 1200 in the past ten years at all, not even in a junkyard. I would love to find one that has been maintained well.

Well for the summer, I only live a few hundred miles from Knoxville. I wouldn't mind dropping by if I ever got a chance to with work and all. You said you had a turbo on your old 1200
didn't you? I was actually thinking about doing some really cool stuff to my A15 in about a year. I'm really thinking about going with a multi point fuel injection setup from TWM Induction, along with a little turbo. It'll be pricey, but fun! I will at least be able to afford it then. I figure with all the money I've saved by having my 1200, it will have earned to have a couple thousand dollars sunk into it. I figured the FI setup will cost about $2500, and the turbo will cost a little, but I actually have an old Subaru Turbo I could use, then it would just be a matter of setting it all up. The fuel injection works off of a Dual DCOE intake with 4 separate intake runners. They sell 40-55 mm throttle bodies that go in place of the carbs, then you buy the injectors, TPS, computer, and other sensors. Then I never have to worry about setting mixtures, balancing carbs, too lean/too rich mixture. Hooking up a turbo would be a breeze! After I do that I have to start saving up for the new Z that's coming out. Hopefully the new Z will be my first new car after it comes out. So far I've heard it's going to be an awesome car! They're looking at something between a VQ30-VQ35 V-6 with at least like 230 hp, and aiming for a 2500lb curb weight. Sounds too cool! -Andy

Hello Andy, The Subaru turbo will fit nicely. In 1980, I bought a turbo from a burnt Mustang. It was a bit too large. It worked beautiful, though. (I have a Subaru turbocharger now that I plan
to use someday.) I bolted an SU to it. Fuel injection was more rare then. Most turbos now are the blow through design. The older ones were mostly suck through. Yours is probable a blow through if it was on an injected motor. The suck through has a seal that blocks off gasoline fron getting to the bearings and the blow through does not have that seal. It would be nice if there was an injection manifold to be had. I have heard of them but I don't know how reliable the sourse was on that. My new car is going to be another Studebaker. I want to find a 1953 two door hardtop. I have had six Studebakers but no 53 hardtop. That is the most beautiful car ever made in the old USA. Now let me tell you about my little Caroline and this one last trip we took one time. It was mid-December and real cold that night and all of the streets were lit up with Christmas lights. When I looked in my mirrow, I saw some smoke and I knew that my motor was about to croak. This made my heart jump up in my mouth and I prayed that we'd get home before all of the oil ran out, I slowed it down to under twenty-five, I was doing every thing I could to keep the motor alive. It took a long long time to drive my lady home and then I added some oil and drove my Caroline on. I knew that wasn't the smart thing to do because most of her motor was still brand new. I knew my Caroline would have a rough way to go when her motor locked up and she wouldn't go any more. I had her towed home and put her under a cover. I've not even looked at her since, I mean , why even bother? I mean, she hadn't been moved in over a year now and how to get her rolling again, I just don't know how. Now don't you think that I'm being a procrastinator, I just can't find a motor for my fifty-three Studebaker. That is a true story. I wrote it in April, 1987. Have a good day.

Water Leaks

Hey, there's two places to check for water leaks, the heater hoses that come into the interior through the firewall, and the windshield. There are a few hoses down by the heater that
could be leaking into your interior, I had the same problem once. Also, the heater unit itself could be leaking somewhere, turn your car and your heater on and see what you can find. The windshield around the corners also leaks sometimes, might want to check that out. See ya

I also have a SMALL leak from my heater control valve. The water + antifreeze occasionaly drips down onto the trans hump and then onto the passenger side floor. If this is the problem
you should have some residue from the antifreeze when the water evaporates. Ive had the seal on my windshield leak, too. The water would drip onto the inside of the dash and drip onto the floor or my legs as I was driving. The holes in my kickpanels also let some water in but not enough to get me off my butt to plug them. Lastly, the plasic that seals the doors, under the door panel, is there to keep water out. Mine are gone and when it rains i sometimes find water running down the door, just below the door panel, onto the floor. I hope this helps you track down the leak. You can view topic.
