An "accident" is when the handle detatches from your coffee cup & it falls & breaks. Something totally beyond our controll.

I still believe that there are NO gun "accidents" & no, well almost no, car "accidents" The Captain is RESPONSIBLE for the safety of his ship, & all who sail in her, no matter if it is a metaphoric ship,..with wheels. Were you charged with an offense, like dangerous driving, or driving in a manner negligent?

The "right to wreck your own car"??? "Perception"??? Ummmm, if you say so.

Yes, you can, but you probably learned to do that from reading my posts.

No, I towed it home, removed R/F guard and bonnet, pulled out the damage, skim of bog, new bonnet, guard and radiator, on the road again. And yes I was dumb and stupid at the time (Happened about 10 yrs ago)
neglegence is not checking the cup's condition before filling it with coffee. metephoricly speaking

Well between my buddy and myself , the 1200 as been in the Family 24 years and the car was purchased from the original Old Lady owner. The car has done road trips all over Califronia and Nevada - plus been raced at Las Vegas Speedway , Willow springs , Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca and Sears Point. In all that time I've only had a bent radius rod and a cracked windshield , both from having to take to the dirt to avoid T-boning a spinning cars.
Now with that said part of the joy of 1200 ownership is the fact that you can flog these cars mercilessly and they eat it up. I count wrecking one on the street silly because there are so many track days availible.I would be upset if I stuffed my 1200 but I know this happens in racing. The car is road legal for tarmac rally and I would not risk it driving to fast on public roads becuase there is so much that can go wrong like a train or deer in the middle of the road.
Of course in the meantime I will still drive the wheels of it at Vinatge Road Races.

Speaking of not letting others touch your datsun, I was really upset at my mechanic for leaving grease all over the bonnet of my ute while he was having a rest from servicing another car. I sure did tell him off I think he was so scared that he went and bought a car cover for it while its in the workshop

It's good to see that the experience has had a positive outcome, since there has been no repeat since.

I have been singularly fortunate in that i have been on the road nearly all of my working life, & with well over a million k's behind me, i have never been involved in a motor vehicle collision in about 37 years,... & yes, luck has had a hand in it, but so did the ability to know when to BACK OFF. Statisticly, i will be involved in a prang or two before i get too old to drive, but so far, so good.
