If anyone buys a late model import Bakkie in Sydney, I'd happy to buy the A/C stuff off you for $300-$700.

I mainly need the in-cabin stuff. I'm happy to use the S13 Silvia stuff in the enginebay.

It's just a thought, and it may never make it into my project...but it needs to be in a condition suitable for a showcar..no broken plastic bits.

Let me know via PM.

My computer is really slow and it would take a long time to answer my PM about air con so i answer them here.

I to ran my air con set up of my A12 you have to wait for the motor to be warm to turn the compressor on. You can run a idler adjuster on some carbys to compensate for the minimul increase of load.

I dont want it cose my car right now is in bits and I need cash to get it back together and air con is not on the my wish list im looking around the $400 mark -4DALOT-

Call me on 0400747944.

If the aircon crippled a cold 1200, i shudder to think what it did to a Datsun 1000, yet they were listed as being available.
My parts book lists the complete kit as "Kit. Cooler. Room, Dash"

I don't suppose anyone has one? Please.
Like Dattodude, i would want the cabin parts, &, if possible, the compressor mount for the early A12 & the A10 engine, the rest can be made or adapted.

Yes, I'm sure that the A/C takes considerable hp to run when it is on. But also consider that A/C bogs down 7-liter engines at idle, hence the "idle adjustment compensator" mentioned by matsfatdat. This is generally a small solenoid on the idle stop of the carb that turns on if the A/C is on. It just raises the idle speed a little.

If one were to use a modern swashplate type compressor, particularly if it had a variable incidence swashplate, the smaller engines can be relieved of a great deal of load at lower power settings. The small cab of a ute would be easy to cool, but the greater volume in a wagon, now thats a diferent story.

At my house, we setup the A/C on the Toyota AE86 to work with the SR20DET. Wasn't that hard. Most Nissan engines have the extra A/C idle valve. Just have it pull on when the compressor solenoid pulls on. Setting up the throttle based A/C cutout also makes it nice for when you are climbing hills, although with a CA18, you find you don't need to change gears much. I used to drive around in 2nd & 4th, pretty much all of the time.

Hot weather can raise "my idle", so having A/C is a good idea. It's about another 40kgs of weight..that's the downside. The CA18 compressor might get in the way too, so I'm not sure it'll work with my custom low-mount exhaust manifold. Might have to make a new exhaust manifold to achieve it. The CA18's compressor bracket to the block is about 15kgs in weight..
