Yes. I paid twice.
My poor dad paid with money, time and frustration with my mother's 1984 Renault 5TS gearbox. they came out with a 5 speed. One morning my dad reversed out of the garage only to find that something broke inside and split open the casing. The gearbox was removed 5 to 6 times. Due to repairs and then there is a winding in some gears and then there is gears running against each other making a grinding noise,etc.etc. Eventually a 4speed was fitted and it is working now.Although it enjoys leaking a little bit of gearbox oil. My experience with gearboxes is "IF IT BREAKS THROW IT AWAY AND BUY A NEW ONE". I have never ever seen a gearbox that went in for repairs that did'nt come back correct. Always something wrong. OK.I know we cannot get gearboxes anymore for our datsuns. This is what I hate about our cars. The scarse parts.

ok, i have a 73 1200 2door manual trans tunnel car, with a normal shift pattern 5spd installed.
It's tight, but it fits. I chose to make a custom crossmember bracket so that i could use the stock 5spd rubber mount. The bracket bolts in the stock location on the car. I removed the reverse switch and plugged the hole because the switch and the transmission mount on the car were trying to occupy the same space.

The bigger 5spds (doglegs) reversing light switch hits but boy are those boxes are strong.
