my opinion as to using single turbo would be coz u can have a massively oversized one and when it starts spoolin it sounds sick.

Start making boost around 6,000rpm valve bounce at 6,100rpm....

I think the main reason for using single turbo is just the fact that is simpler to set-up.

Twin sequentials are particularly hard to get running properly.

And also with the new BB turbos, there's really no need to worry about turbo lag.

hmm, yeah i've never seen how a twin sequential is setup exactly, but two running together is easy enough really

i was thinking about that, and then it occured to me, why are all the WRC cars using anti-lag if lags not an issue, i honestly cant remember exactly what anti lag does now, just wondering anyway

Anti-lag is used to build boost while the engine is not under load (before launching). Twin turbos won't solve that problem.

I've never really looked at twin sequentials either, but from my limited understanding, they (some of them anyway) use a valve to switch over to the larger turbo, and apparently when setting up an aftermarket system its hard to get this changeover smooth.

Other systems I've seen to improve low-end response is a twin-entry turbo, with a variable exhaust manifold that brings in the second half of the exhaust housing at higher revs (such as on the series 5 RX7)

maybe i missed something, but if you are going to make your twin turbos work at the same time(non-sequentialy) then wont they effectivley be the same as running one big turbo?

Yes.

Then some people will argue that they spool up quicker because the turbo's are only half the size.

Then other people will argue it makes no difference because only half the exhaust pulses are spooling up each turbo.

Its neverending......
