You guys are going to have to help recommend a really good place to do my body and paint work around there... I'm really excited to be able to represent 1200's again in Texas.

I can probably help you out with a good paint shop. I know a guy with alot of Datsun experience. He painted my wagon, and will probably paint my 510 and my 1200. He's painted alot of Zs around here too.

It would be awesome for once to have more than 1-2 1200s at a Datsun event too! And I'm going to have my work cut out for me if my ride will be parked next to yours

Sweet! I'd like to check out this paint shop when I get there.

I got my car back from being tuned today, it runs SO nice now! It's so smooth it seems better than stock actually. They welded up the SR's 80mm exhaust pipe to the old 2.25 inch setup left over from the A15. The exhaust now is actually QUIETER than the A15 was!!!

I didn't get to video tape it, but I at least got the dyno sheets....283.5 rwps @6200rpm, or 208.4 kW at the rear wheels! Torque stays above 30kgm from 3500 - 6600rpm, maxing out at 36.9kgm @ 4600rpm.

This was done on a warm day too, 31 degrees Celsius during the test. Also this is through the full 2.25" exhaust, so there's still a good amount of power hiding in there. The car goes sideways through at least 3 gears and it's so quiet the only give away is the blow off between shifts

I am 100% pleased with how it runs, now I have to address the hot brake fluid problem and install new fenders and hood.

So, it's awesome and I will take video soon. See ya!

Turbos make the best mufflers.

What is this in HP?

Can't wait to see it in person...

PS is just about the same as horsepower, so you can figure about 280 - 285 rwhp.

Finally fixed the brake fluid heating up problem today and installed the carbon fiber hood and fiberglass fenders. The fenders weren't really worth it other than that there's no rust on them, the flare is only 15mm which turned out to be the same as a rolled stock fender cause it still rubs slightly...actually a little more than with the rolled stock fenders believe it or not.

I bought about $90 worth of Billion heat wrap and used a good chunk of header blanket I had left over to heat shield EVERYTHING on the turbo as well as the brake lines and master cylinder themselves. It seems to have worked, I drove the car around for about 45 minutes and the brakes never started binding !!!

So FINALLY I got a chance to drive the car a little more thoroughly. There is no doubt this is THE fastest car I have ever been in. My brother's 180SX did high 11's on a G-tech and it seems a lot faster than his car (I hope he doesn't read this The only problem of course is traction unless I'm going totally straight in 3rd gear or higher, then it's just plain scary how fast it builds speed. I have her full juice in 3rd and shortly into 4th and it was going way too fast for comfort....not to worry though, those vented, cross drilled and slotted 280ZX brakes bit HARD and slowed me down absolutely awesome. I highly recommend 4 wheel disk brakes

I still have to hook up the speedo, but will need a Skyline or RB transmission speedo sender, also the tach isn't working...don't know why though unless it burnt out for some reason...the SAFC's tach signal is fine so it may be the tach itself.

That's it for now, tomorrow watch for continued work on double checking everything, hooking up horns, and possibly an oil change before she ships. I'm going to miss her for the next 2 months!! See ya!

I know what youre talking about with the acceleration the coupes have with an SR20DET...I drove CA18DET_MAN's CA18 coupe and it too was too fast for comfort. It is definately something you have to grow into otherwise its VERY simple to come unstuck.

you should be able to use the mechanical "sender" from a Z if you are running a stock speedo? That is, unless you need a speed sensor signal for the ECU to work right...
