a15s are great, i had an a15 in my car which had been rebuilt and had a nice "street" cam installed, using a 32/36 weber, extractors and thermo fan, this kept up with the latest 6cyl commodore (VY), i dunno if you get many commodores there? i guess you would

im currently building a turbo setup for it now, should be finished quite soon, im running twin turbos in a blow through setup, at first with a 32.36 carb running 7psi, but plan is to inject lower comp and up boost as soon as i can afford

im leaving the bottom end stock contrary to what most tell me, but i have faith in the old a-series, i spose ill find out pretty quick if i over do it

it is quite expensive to setup a turbo system, but i couldnt really give a cost, as there is so many variables in how to set it up, i feel i have done it properly this time aside from the bottom end, and its cost me packets for all the bits and pieces, but i have saved a lot by doing it slowly and collecting up the bits i need over time when they come up cheap sorta thing

best of all i have learnt HEAPS along the way, and thats something ive really enjoyed about it

I have just finished a turbo set up on my A15 it is standard bottom end i have decompressed the engine by using a 2mm decompression plate and 2 head gaskets it is a blow through carby set up, i am blowing through a weber 32/36 DGV all i have done to carby is put in plastic solid cell float as the brass floats may collapse under boost i custome made the exhaust turbo manifold my self out of plate steel and 45 degree madral bent steam pipes,i am using the standard inlet manifold the turbo is of a 2 litre piazza about the same size as a T3 using a VL commodore fuel pump and a malpassi rising rate regulator .I have made a box that bolts to the carby top and using a Supra intercooler just got running still need to play around with jetting running 12 pounds boost goes hard also i have a pulsar electronic Disy which i have modified so it does not over advance in previous Aseries good for about mid to high 13's on the quarter

is that an estimation or fact, just curious as im guessing how fast mine will go

i basically have the same setup, have you boxed the entire carby?, i have just put a box on top of the carb as i had a boxed carb on a previous setup and it was a pain in the arse, the reason i ask is because i thought the carb would only take about 10psi before it starts squirting petrol out seals and stuff???

cheers mate, sounds good

who said the ex-ET pulsar T2 was a good turbo? you need your head read dude! ####ty little things they are - although they are great for a sinker when i go deep sea fishing.

use a CT9 out of the turbo'd toyota starlet. Grant at Per4Manz turbos in Welshpool WA is selling them brand new for $450. they're internally wastegated and the compressor covers and compressor wheels can be changed for the early MR2 CT20.

manifolds aren't hard to make, just make sure there's no stupid restrictions or 180deg bends in them and it'll flow fine. something like a 13B turbo throttle body or an EA falcon throttle body would do the job cheap and do the job well. even if you can't weld, just tack the pieces in position and get a workshop to weld it properly for you.

people that say can't should be avoided at all costs.

what 1/4 times has people done with an A15 in a 1200 ute?
I would guess a stock A15 would go around 18 seconds. Just a guess. But it's gotta be better than the A12 time of 22 seconds .... The ute would be very comparable to the coupe, about the same weight, though the rear gear is different.

Yeah i have a box on top of the carby stuff boxing the carby as you said a pain in the ass also looks #### i had a mate that pumped 15 pounds into a weber 32/36 no problems but what u need to do is the on the top of the carby above the float chamber you should notice a breather if u run a malpassi rising reg put the hose that goes normally to vacuum to that vent as it only works of boost and thats all u really have to do and i agree with the other guy dont touch exa turbos there good for nothing use like a VL commodore turbo t3 dont listen to people saying they are to big bullshit mine and my mates went hard as and started boosting at bout 2 1/2 grand RPM cheers

ohh and thanks for the tip to use those exa turbos as a sinker never thought ofd that cheers

dont touch the exa's full stop, go for a turbo of a vg series v6 nissan, not too bad and people getting rid of them, same as rb20 nissan 6 cyl, they are all upgrading. go to a turbo shop and they have heaps of change overs for vl turbos, exa's and rb series motors, cheap

i have had bad experience with rb and vg turbos as they are all ceramic exhaust impellers and u cant boost them more than 12 pounds high chance of disintergrating the ceramic wheel cheap but u need boost to make the aseries go hard minumum 10 to 15 pounds
