The plates look the same, but do the pressure plates have differing specs?

I am not an expert with clutches but am going to tell you what happened to me.
My 1200GX clutch gave problems about 2 years ago.
I bought a clutch kit asking for a 1200GX clutch kit.
The clutch was installed, BY AN IDIOT, witch was my mistake because he was cheap and I wanted to spend little money.
About 3 months after the job it begun chattering. It worsened.
I took it to another mechanic to replace the clutch again. He phoned me during the day to tell me it was a A14 clutch that was put in and not a A12. The diference is that the A12 clutch plate has a smaller radius than the A14 clutch that has a little bigger radius.
What happened is that the clutchplate did not grab the full plate and burned the flywheel heavy. This is what he told me.
Be very sure on what you purchase.
Now my Clutch is chattering again.
I think it is due to putting in a remanufactured clutch or the presure plate being faulty as the clutch pedal is hard to press.
This time when the new one is going to be put in I am going to be with my baby from start to finish.Hopefully next week.

Thanks all. Now when it comes time to do my clutch I'll know what to look for and what not to get.
