just wondering what top speeds other people are getting out of there a12????. Mine is fairly stock, just a set of extractors and exhaust. I redline it in 4th gear at 150km/h. It has just had a rather large service and is going a hell of a lot better. When travelling at 150 it is amazingly smooth!!. Just wondering if anybody elses ute is like that??

That's it. If you have enough power to push a taller tire, numerically lower rear end, 5th gear or a combination of all 3... you'll get a higher top speed.

My A12 B110 Wagon used to do 6600rpm in 4th. But seriously..the engine won't last long at those revs...well mine didn't.

That's about all i managed to wring out of my ute.
All i have is Extractors with 2" system and an aftermarket ignition system. I got it to about 155 on the speedo on a level road with a slight tail wind....having the tonneu cover on helps a bit too.

i legally got to 100 one time, but one day my speedo must have "malfunctioned" and i saw 135kmh on the digital and backed off when i saw trafic ahead.... datsun brakes you know

I can get 100 Km/h out of "The Defect" which is a March '77 120Y 4 door sedan that is an Auto (have the bits to do the manual conversion - I don't know if I want it doing 140-150 Clicks in a paddock though, especially with a blown head gasket!)

haha yeah i had a mate who managed to get 100 out of his 240C one time.....there were two problems...
a) his speedo was in miles!!
b) i was in the car at the time....scary stuff

145 with the old 13 inch rims, 155 with the new 15's.
Standard 4 speed and diff.

my old a12 (same specs as yours) could do 100mph both when it was 4speed manuel and auto (although it took longer with the auto)(on origanal speedo). my a15 (twin deloughtos mild work, 5speed ,digital vdo speedo) did 175kph on a slight down hill run on to a straight before i backed off (this one , i had my video camera attached to my roll cage for prosperity... now im to gutless (i call it smart) to push the limits of my car like that. i have the feeling the datsuns aerodynamics were not desighned for breaking the speed of sound
