Larger circumference rims will decrease your standard speedo reading. Stock A15 in a 1200 with 4 speed depends on your diff ratio and how high you rev. Genuine 160 kph with out downhill or wind assist is achievable. There will be no speed difference between the 4 and 5 speed if the top gear final ratio is the same. If it is an overdriven 5 speed then you may find that 4th is your fastest gear - depends on whether engine has enough torque to rev out an overdriven 5th.

well ive managed to get 90mph reading off the standard 1200 sedan speedo, that was revving quite high on 15" rims with 45 profiles, would it put the reading out by like 5k's at most or what? and obviosuly the speedo itself isnt accurate anyway, even with standard tyres etc correct?

My 1200 delux speedometre is reading pass 160kpm
I ####ed it up once while on a long drive on a flat long stretch of highway, where I attained this speed, and is now stuck at that point since. Obviously, thats not true speed. However it felt nice seeing it there. The 1200's stock with 12' rims, no mods, except the 1400 carbi. But I wouldnt take it to these speeds ever again, whilst being stock. Damn, this motor was screaming its ass out.

I used to have a C20 van. It had a bog stock A15. I put 15" wheels on it with215/60 tyres to compensate for the obscenly low diff. Even with these being the least aerodynamic vehicles ever to be fitted with an "A", I still had it RIGHT of the clock, at 140+kph. At that speed the back wheels left the ground momentarilyover the "dips" north of Kaikoura.

when my car was stock I took it up to 160kph (100mph) out the back of mitchell (in ACT).
Standard coupe engine, diff, 4 speed and wheels. that was with the 30 year old engine in it.... I think my new engine does the same only easier... never really pushed it... You can view topic.
