hey, arnt those rs5w60a vannette boxes rarer than the normal 5 speed a series boxes?. i have a blown 60 series 5 speed (so i have the bits that needed to convert an a series 5 speed box from one of these vannettes if i can find one), i had been looking everywhere i could and ran in the brick wall of ," all aseies vannettes had 4 speeds, but lseries had 5 speeds" is the 5speed a unicorn of the gearbox world or is there hope. most wreckers around here dont know what i am talking about.

as i have said b4, i will throw a t50 Toyota box in to my car as soon as funds allow, unless i can find a cheap alternative (eg can find one of those vanette 5 speeds people here are talking about). i have a friend with a t18 which he has just dumped behind his shed, the body is rusted and the engine is buggered, but the trans was still ok, i think, does the t18 have the t50 box? if so i will make an offer for the box if it is a t50 box is it 2t or 3t (looking through the tech section it dosnt go in to specific models of cars have what gearbox) what models of toyotas would have these boxes? and for parts avalibility, are 3t boxes more common that 2t?

Hi David, well I owe you an apology, I just removed the dogleg box from my sedan(sold the car) and you are quite right it is not a 60A but it only is stamped 60 and the serial number is 5L-8501863.
I would say it came from an importer as it has A12/A14 and o/d hand written on the bellhousing but it is not an overdrive box by the way it drives.
Funny that both my boxes are stamped 60 and the other one has a std shiftpattern, they both have two mounting points on the extension housing.

Ade,
Your box is a 60L.
These were the first 60 series five speeds made (up to 78?) from then on they were 60A boxes with conventional shift pattern (use search button for details)

No mate I still have it, but now that my 4 door has sold the pressure is of a bit, Having five cars and 2.4 people in the house my backyard looked like a used car lot.
