Well as I own a toyota and a Datsun, both old school, even if one is a 4X4(lol). Like A14 said old school is cool and I do like old toyota, but I love Datsuns!!!!!!!

But if a old toyota came into my hands I might just have to keep it.

My 0.02

My philosephy is simple,
OLD SCHOOL IS COOL!!!!
I like em both BUT, I currently am a datsun fiend , because..they're cheaper to buy,
They are lighter
THey go harder stock
I find them easyer to work
on

However , one day I may well own an old school toyota, But for now ......dattos rock!

F' all the Datsuns this, Toyotas that, etc, etc, etc. Blah blah blah. Just do what you can to save old cars that YOU find appealing. Don't ask what other people think is cool. Are you a sheep?! Some realistic questions are 1) can you afford to restore it. 2)can you afford to maintain it. 3)can you afford to let it go when it is far too gone to save? and 4) can you afford to face the ridicule when you go to Datsun1200 and ask about Toyotas! PS, I go for the offbeat, not seen much cars. (though I do also plan on having a Cobra someday soon) One is a '69 Toyota Crown. Never seen one. Good classic lines. Will look great w/ Florida tint and peelin' 'flectors.

Bah, too heavy. Even the lightest Corolla 1200 weighs 50 pounds more than a Datsun 1200

But I hear the Corollas are a good car.
