Glad to hear it helped.

Do I really need the choke to work or can the engine work fine without it?
Keep in mind that in a warm country like Trinidad, you may not need a choke at all. As long as it starts fine, idles without dying, and you can drive it away right away, there is no problem.
In colder weather with cold engine, the engine needs a richer mixture up to very rich. The choke does this. Once the engine is warmed up the choke should be 100% open.

Where exactly is the EGR valve located
Good question. It's always on the intake manifold, cause it feeds exhaust gas into the intake. Often there is a pipe from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve (or to some passage of the intake manifold).
On the A-series engine, it's on the top front of the intake manifold, in front of the carb. It reduces performance somewhat, but cleans up the atmosphere (which is more important), so if it's working, leave it be. If it's broken (leaking vacuum) replace it or just plug the vacuum hose.
Most of your B310 tune-up specs like dwell, valve clearance, etc will be the same as the others ... see
Tune-Up Information. Timing varies even in the same year by country, state, engine, etc. So just try 5 degrees to start, then see if you can increase it bit without pinging.
