I broke one a few years ago and the arm still came out with the pump, it was just snapped at the pivot point but not completely broken off.
I have also pulled an A12 down and the fuel pump lobe on the cam was warn down to be completely round in the centre of the lobe where the pumps lever rests on it. This engine ran an electric pump and just had the mechanical one left in place. All I could think was maybe the pump slowly siezed from being dry and this extra force placed on the lobe slowly wore it down.

turned out it was the pump. the one that was on it hadnt been used for years because of the electronic pump for the turbo there for its obviously become fragile and after a few hours of use gave in. so i put the a14 one in not realising it was different. anyway ended up getting another a12 on and that cleared up the fuel problem.

just one more question, i just put the a14 back in my car and the a14 pump wasnt pumping even tho i am 100% sure its fine so we put an a12 pump on it and my mate from ricol said it will be fine? anyway the only hting i can put the a14 pump not working down when its on the engine is that im not using enough or im using too many spacer plate things for it, does anyone know how many it should use?

I dont think you should wait for the A12 pump to snap then you'll just cause more added trouble for you
