hey guys,

those of you running 40 DCOE'S could give me a ball park figure for the jeting specs,I'm running a A-14 ported head 280cam and extractors. what size chokes, emulsions, jets ect ect.
I've got my hands on a go pair, the thing is these have 5 progression holes and not three, will this make any differance when tuning??

many thanks
nicholas

then the last question, what fuel consumption do you get?

The fuel consumption that you get is ENTIRELY up to you.
I have been able to coax my big bore 1200GX engine out to over 50mpg, but with a heavy load, [towing a boat, filled with stuff] a good pace, & some long steep hills, it has become near half that figure.

Do you plan to fit a pair of DCOE Webbers, & drive for economy?
My guess is that you would return somewhere between 25, to 35mpg, depending on the engine's state of tune, & the driver's state of mind.

Nick,
With stock 32 mm chokes use 35 pumps, 125 mains, 175 airs, on F16 emulsion tubes.
45 F9 or 45F2 idle jets.
The only thing to fine tune will be the main jet size (possibly down to 120 mains).

Errol, I just want to say its a privledge having you on this site. The IP you have time and again astounds me....you must have an IBM Z990 64 processor mainframe cerebellum whem it comes to this. The only problem is that you dont live in Sydney next door to me!!!

Nick,
I use a great little jetting prog, for twin sidies on 4 cylinder engines. It gives a great starting point for tuning webers / dellortos / solex etc.

For the best results, you need to be realistic with the figures you quote. i.e engine cc's and the max RPM you what to run, also whether you what tuning for power or flexibilty.

For a 1400cc engine, tuned for power at 7000 RPM, I recommend,

33mm chokes
135 mains
F15 / F9 / F16 Emulsion tubes
180 air correctors
40 F9 Idle
30 / 35 Pump
4.0 aux venturi

Benny

converted, I agree 100%. Feral is a great contributor to the site, often sharing what others would keep as a "race secret".

You used "IP" in daily conversation. That's funny! But appropriate.

Hi Nicolas
If you do not mind, can you tell us what you have done to your engine.
What revs do you do?
Did you have it on a dyno yet?

And on the Opel subject.
HOPE YOU KICK HIS ASS!!!!!!
As you can see I am not a Opel fan.
Those of you overseas it is a Vauxhall.
(Hope spelling is right).
My other car is a Volkswagen and in south africa Volkswagen and Opel guys are not buddies.
Good Luck and let us know how you do....
