I ran an E16 in a 2 door Sentra with a 5 speed. As a standard motor it wasn't any where near the power and driveability of an A14 driving a 5 speed in a Pulsar. Unfortunately the E16 was an 8 valve. I know this because it spun a timing belt and bent 4 valves.

the e16 and e15 are the ones with no balls when it comes to performance. The e15t head bolts straight on the e16 and gives a 11.1 compression and better overall flow.
Pity not many people know about that.
The e15et engines lower compression is through shorter pistons and dish

Maybe in later prairies and pulsars but Ive never seen one.

Also pulled two complete engines out at the wreckers one a12 and the other e15 and its seems that the e15 is a smidgen taller but much more compact and therefore lighter.
This could be from the cam missing in the block and therefore less steel on the block and also the 76mm bore which can only go 1mm over safely as 2mm can have problems unlike a possible 79mm A series.

The E16 has the 88mm stroke and the e15 has the 82mm like the a15. I must stress that a normal pulsar e15 with the 15m head revved and moved a heavier little four door pulsar faster than well setup mild a14 in a sunny. These little gems really like revs and get to the redline quickly. Instead of in a a12 speedway car imagine the 15m head on an a15 with 79mm bores, crank angle sensor and black box made by feral ;), 48mm inlets with snag cleaned up ports and well setup injection. It should outdo any a series head by quite a mile.

Also Ive been waiting for pics of this engine in a mini sprint someone pointed out on ebay.
This car has the a12 with the ohc head and he says with the 8.5 compression it was making 165hp which is hopeful but if anyone can get the pics up it will be a great addition to our site. The if feral gives up on the tc head this head could be the fall back.

also what the hell is this diff?? I thought gsx 1000 had a chain??!!!

In 1983 a clubman ran an E15 with webers and made 158 hp and 103 ft lbs torque. This was a basic engine just tuned well.

They can be made to go very well in NA form.

That sounds very nice for a well tuned engine The turbo cranks are awesome billets which are nitrided and the rods also.
I read on the exa forums that the kawa gs1100 pistons are almost bolt ons for high comp and forgies.

i've got a e15t head and block want to see how hard it is to fit the head to an a15 so i can put the electronic dizzy in the a series hole. can some one make a temple(with dimensions) of the an a15 series head and send it to me Leasieanne@hotmail.com
i think that i would use e15t pistons and jap inlet manifold

You need to buy a head gasket for an a15 maybe 20 dollars from supacheapauto.
You need to remove the waterpump and plate the hole and run an external hillman hunter setup with pulley. Also Youll need to tap the a15 block for the belt tensioner and work the galleries to suit the a15 block.
Nothing simple but it has been done and still is being done in litre sprint setup a12 engines as they have forged crank from factory and the e13 never did for the 1220cc capacity they run.

flow characteristics and cfm means sh1t when a head is under pressure - only those chasing extreme power will worry about it.

Hmmm.... flow characteristics and cfm mean everything when moddin/Tuning any engine.

One slow pulsar does not count for all of them. Ive driven a sunny with 60,000lkms and immaculate service history but due to it always been driven by a granny and having bad blow by it only managed to just beat a sigma running on 2 cylinders.
If you build and A series and E series for race the E series will win hands down as proven by speedway. The reason e15 heads have been put on a series is because in the litre sprint 1220cc the forged crank 1200gx a12 compliments the capacity and e13 cranks are cast and weak. As where the e15et crank and rods are forged and makes a perfect candidate for high comp.
48mm inlet valves without shrouding sounds awesome.
