your running temp should be just under half way on your standard temp gauge and no higher

if your temp is higher check to see if its blocked or upgrade to larger radiator

As I said, the normal operating temperature varies because Datsun put such small radiators in some models.

But the correct operating temperature should match your thermostat. For example, with a 180-degree thermostat, your engine coolant should be at 180-degrees, winter or summer, no matter the temperature (once the engine is fully warmed up). There is probably a plus-minus 10 degrees tolerance.

And so you are correct! I replaced the water pump, and not much improvement. However...I replaced the radiator, and WALAA! My baby doesn't go hardly over the second cold mark..and that's in 110 degree weather! Here are a couple of pics to show what I did. THANKS again guyz!

Thanks so much!!! I love this Datsun! What's funny is that I'm 6'7" and weigh about 250. :) I even laugh at the thought of someone not prepared to see me get out of my own car. lol! What a site!
