I think that if it's YOUR car and YOU pay for tyres repairs etc, then as long as you are not hurting ANYONE than you can have fun anyway YOU like. Everyone has there own idea of fun. At least we all like dattos, there are some misguided fools out there who LOVE vastly inferior makes.

why is everyone against drifting, yes drifiting may damage datsun's but a datsun with a dint is still a datsun but when you go and rip every thing out of one and change engine and add roll cages and all modifications for drag racing etc. wouldnt that be destroying a datsun like 20% origin datsun bits the rest being after market stuff. why dont you guys winge about that being destruction of datsuns, (i also want a drag car)
i am goin to have a daily driver that i will drift someotimes (if i am good enough) but ill do it coz its fun and i enjoy goin sideways, . but i dont care if its not what you call "motorsport". i think it is as its got a motor and its enjoyable and fun, and generally sports are fun and enjoyable.

don't mind me, I don't understand the point of alot of things... burnout comps, decibel drags, drifting, synchronised swimming, that part of gymnastics in the Olympics where they punce around with ribbons and stuff... So I'm not a drifter - not that there's anything wrong with that.

but there are obviously plenty of people out there who like each of those things, and if you like drifting, go for it. As long as you're not doing it on the road or in public areas.

But its not motorsport. Rallying, speedway (dirt oval track), motorkhana, autocross, khanacross are forms of motorsport, where the point of getting the car sideways is to get through the corner/course/stage as fast as possible to get the best time. That's the difference, and that's where the real skill is. Drifting is just about having fun, looking good, and hanging the tail out for as long as you can - its not motorsport. If people were ballroom dancing on an athletics track, its not exactly the Olympics is it?
