My 32/36 started and idled perfect. The only downside was just a wee bit of flat spot off-idle.

I did not pay to re-jet it. I just gathered a bunch of jets/tubes etc from Fords and tried different ones. By doing so I changed a good-sized flat spot to a small flat spot.

Also, don't bother with a rebuild kit. These carbs are so simple, the carb-top gasket is nearly always reusable, the manifold gasket is reusable, the needle & seat rarely wear out, that only leaves the power valve from the rebuild kit, which is usually good.

Oh, and you can make an adapter with a small piece of aluminum, a hacksaw, an electric drill and a round file, like Myko and myself have done.

If you are nice to the guy (or know some one) at your local car parts place they might swap the jets for you, I have done this twice before as it is no loss to them because they can still use your ones if their good. My advice is nail the guy for $100 if it looks good changing the linkage and cable isnt that big a deal either, I used a skyline cable and pissed aroung for about an hour untill i found the best set up and made a bracket for it to run through. It was a peace of piss.

BUY BUY BUY!!
I got a 32/36 recently and it is a huge improvement over the Hitachi. It works far better at higher revs and if you have the right air cleaner the new induction noise is wicked! It may not be too much of an improvement at lower revs but it certainly sounds faster. Everyone seems to complain about idle and low revs with a Weber but mine is smoother than the stock and I have had no problems. I havn't hooked up the choke yet and it still starts on frosty mornings and idles right away. Plus I havn't tuned it yet, I'm actually running a 32/38 carb as the secondary has been bored for my Formula Ford and it is running a 200 jet on the secondary. Will tune soon tho as the fuel bill is rising but there are no hesitations or anything in acceleration.
My advice is to buy it.

--Carb was rebuilt and jetted about 4months ago.

It was jetted to suit a 1.8l Gemini

Unfortunately the adapter plate suits L series datsun’s, although you can purchase the adapter for your car (about $30 I think) --

What do yas reckon?

not sure on just re-jet, but think around 100-120 still

[edit] in my experience they sometimes need a rebuild every 6mnths anyway

great carb for power gain, but not so reliable as far as running smooth and consistant for a long time, the car will always go - just not too well

that said i'd still put one on any day

just thinking some more, maybe it is worth getting

depends what price you can get the carb and rebuild kit for, full price for carb is $50 and rebuild kit is $55, i have managed to get both cheaper in the past though

dont think this is gonna be easy though, you need the right adaptor (if this one is not), you need to swap throttle cable linkage, and need to get it rejetted, you could also be up for about $40 if this doesnt come with an air filter?

chances that adaptor plate is to suit a 1200 manifold is very slim

it should run, but to run well it will need re-jetting, probably not a good buy in my opinion

its not a cheap exercise anyway really,
adaptor is around $50
rebuild and re-jet is worth around $200

What would be involved in tuning it?
I believe it was on a 2L escort...
