the engine has just been rebuilt(about 4000km ago)

will my car still be reliebale? i'll drive it daily.

any hints and suggestions will be greatly appreciated as i have no experiece with stuff like this

That's what I like to hear.

Hey dude, there's been excessive discussion on the topic here. You are better to PM this question to 1200rc. He's "gone from go to whoah..yeeehaa" in relation to this subject.

It sounds like you've already made your mind up about the carburettor and turbo method. Look at the project as a whole package. Using the R & D from someone else will make your project success much more likely.

Cheers.
Chris

i know i'm stirring the pot, but THANK GOD you chose draw thru over blow thru.

if you choose your exhaust housing correctly, you will have minimal low rpm rough running characteristics. that has nothing to do with draw thru vs blow thru, more to do with carby vs EFI.

you'll never be able to jet a carby perfectly (and satisfactorily for my liking, but that's just me) to account for two different fuel, load and airflow requirements that change halfway in the rev range, but at least if you minimise your exhaust housing size at the benefit of low/mid rpm driving and sacrifice a little bit of top end, it'll be an awesome daily driver that will only 'chug' a little under low rpm and/or light throttle conditions for, say, 1500rpm or so from idle.

have you thought about 'modifying' a 12V camper fridge from KMart and using the cooling element in a bypass situation as a fuel chiller to further reduce detonation possibilities? food for thought..

The T25 NoPsi has got on his A12 works really well . Not laggy at all. It makes useful boost at 60kph in 4th just driving normally up steep hills. And has a huge grin factor when you start getting up it, and its only runing about 8psi. They're found on CA18 Silvia/180SX and probably other models I don't know about.

Tuning is very important on a turbo engine - you need to eliminate any hint of detonation. You'll need to have the dissy regraphed to limit total advance, and get the mixtures right (or slightly on the rich side).

standard compression A14 should be OK for low boost levels (6-7psi), especially if you have an open chamber head. If you can get over-the-counter 'head savers' (metal shim that goes under the head gasket) over there, you may as well fit one to drop the CR a bit. ACL make them here in Aus, and they cost about as much as a head gasket.

the standard mechanical fuel pump is fine, as are the standard fuel lines.

Bigger radiator is a must too - more power means more heat, and the water is also going to be cooling the turbo.

And a clutch upgrade is also mandatory - the standard one has no hope! Just be gentle on those gearboxes!

BTW, you're going to love it when its up and running!
