Seattle drivers are excellent in the rain. In fact, we sometimes joke that it's dangerous when the sun comes out because "people don't know how to drive when there's a bright light" and go crashing into things.
Although it hasn't rained here in about two weeks ... We are in the height of summer.

i also agree with both sides of the argument. i have seen people with there #### box carby v8 vn with there subs blaring throwing wayward single leggers through crowded shopping malls and nothing pisses me off more, if your going to bang your car out there and link a few bends here and there think about the concequinces and do it as safely as you can. there are a few ways me and my mates do this if we feel the need. one is by going to a tip we know of about 30 mins drive away and before anyone winges about noise polution and things hit it is about 2kw away from anyhouse and has a few low speed corners with grass runnoff and nothing to hit. the other place is in the national park or mountains we often go driving through, there are corners similar to the tip one and at night there are never ever other cars around and we have people at both the top and bottom of the run we choose with cb radios and most of the cars have cages and are seam welded. whether anyone likes it or not it will continue to happen but i think it is the idiots that are showing off there #### box cars in the middle of crowded malls that should be dealt with, not the people that are being cautious and making sure there is noone to endanger and little danger of hurting themselves, people that are just trying to excel at a growing sport know as drifting cos they dont have $200 to fork out for a quick track run. Around here, in fact everywhere that i have spent any time.
Quote: Around here, in fact everywhere that i have spent any time, the rain brings out the wankers who think that they can drive,...[but can't] in cars that would not pass a registration inspection, it sure does. but the rain brings out people you dont notice, that practice in places that noone knows, with cars that probly couldnt pass a rego inspection because of not being engineered, but still manage to win most of the comps around nsw and queensland, my mates. this is also where the massivly succesful jap drifters learnt. it is the same with track drivers, just not as evident.

my daily driver is a vs commodore ute 5.0 5spd manual with LSD and wet roads are a pain in the ass! even with 235 tyres. i find this funny coz the 235 tyres are the problem, bigger surface area= less force on the road, so no traction.

The exact reason why F1 cars (or any other race car) don't use slicks in the wet. the exact way my uncle wrote off his brand new HSV Clubsport. wasn't doing anything wrong, hit a puddle, aqua-planed, spun out, and ended up backing into a power pole at 70 odd km/hr. the tow truck driver thought the car was a hyundai, it was that bad.

like people have said, you can drift your car anywhere, but do it in a safe manner where no-one will get hurt

Not a day goes by that I dont think this about some people!

I tend to do both, attend little club meetings and events and also have a little fun in the wet. I like to think the difference between me and those little wankers in old 3 series bmers which have been choped and rotered is that I NEVER do any high speed stuff ( in fact I rearly need to excede 30 -40kph), I do it late a night in places I know arent populated (ie business parks) and I dont cruze specifically to skid, its normally in my road car (ae86) after a late finish at work. I agree with people who hate boyracers who cause millions of $$ worth of damage each year with death traps for cars and no insurence but a LITTLE CONTROLED fun is ok. its just idiots who ruin it for every one else.
