Has anyone had any experience with oil coolers on an a12? trying to work out if it's worth fitting one... benefits etc?
Thanks, Matt.

There was a factory after market one avaible for race/rally so they must be a worthwhile thing. I have the part # at the workshop, but chances are they are long obsolete.

How do you cover it? do you just put a metal plate in front of it to stop the air flow through it?
thanks for sending the photo - does the oil filter just screw on under it? Matt

a piece of cardboard,
and yes that threaded thing goes through and holds the adapter on. the filter goes on under all that

sorry to be such a pain, but how thick is the cooler attachment? I have my a12 fitted into a Austin Healey Sprite and currently have only about an inch to spare under the oil filter before it hits the chassis.
Just want to make sure it will fit before tracking one down. Thanks, Matt.

Hi Matt,
Give Rocket a call in Sydney - they have a 150 hp oil cooler which is just what you need. If you do track days in your Sprite or run it hard in summer then an oil cooler is a good move. If you want to check one of these coolers and adapters on an A series send me a PM. Ian.

i dont see the need to put one on really, but still intrested in how it would be done

I run a oil cooler on a a12 as well and had the same problem with with the length of the filter clearing my winged sump. I found that a oil filter of a AE92 Toyota Corolla running a 4AGE engine fitted well and was only half the overall length.
