Are there any modifications that need too be done to be able to use the newer A14 style gearbox in a Datsun 1000? i was just wondering because i know the clutch cable is a bit different.

Yes, the A14 gearbox may foul near where the firewall meets the floor. You might need to bash a dent (messy) or maybe cut a hole and weld a curve (nicer) in?

You can also shorten the clutch lever (I used an angle grinder) by about an inch, so you don't have to make as much space.

The trans tunnel in these is pretty squeezy. There was an auto trans that was offered in the DeLuxe four door sedan for 1969 & '70 models & the tunnel in these is probably big enough, but the stock tunnel may need some massaging to get a 60 series trans in, & it will likely need some serious work to fit anything bigger.
You will also benefit from a small machined adapter to snugly fit the later cable into the 1000 firewall. It takes away that second-rate engineered look.

Does anyone on here make an adaptor plate?
or could i use one out of say a 120Y and modify it to fit?
