ok, well maybe I was exaggerating a little..
but the truth is that we are building cars that handle better, stop better, are more economical and output less emissions than most new cars 99% of the time. it is unfortunate that we are lumbered with the ICV moniker whereas the hotrod guys have such an easier, defined path. what we need is an astute body to lobby the powers that be and introduce some more pertainent guidelines as was done for the hotrod guys.
and I will back part of my original statement with the living example of the street legal merlin engined rod built by rod hadfield.

Cute comment, & if it was anywhere near the truth, i would be wearing a smug grin. But i'm not,.. because that statement does not bear even a minute trace of truth, none, nill nada, nothing, zip, zero, zilch.
Nice try though

luckily you guys are allowed to go the cheap route and use older engines while us aussies have to install 89 or later EFI motors grrrr!
because 7s are considered ICV's (individually constructed vehicles) while the hotrod guys can take a single rusty crossmember out of a 32 roadster and build everything else custom and use a rolls royce merlin if they want to!

I am actually considering building a seven next year, though of the Locost variety (completely DIY) always wanted to own a classic english sportscar (of sorts)

I'm about to buy a Birkin kit! I've been making noise about building a "Lotus Seven" type vehicle for some time now, using Datsun power of course. Well, I'm going to do it finally. I'm looking for a set, or even just one, "Datsun 710" fender (wing) badges so I can trim off the "10" part and have "Datsun 7" emblems on the car. Can anyone help me locate one or two of these?
