Welcome dude.
Where you from? Anyway, I cant agree more than what DD has said. The a12 motor will be better to work on and much cheaper, and less time consuming. No need for many conversions, such as changing mounting positions, g\box and crossmembers, diff, radiators etc, etc. What I would suggest is to put an a14 head on your a12 block with extractors, an Twin Carbi or weber, and if you want, but not that neccesary, is a a14 5speed gearbox to go on. Thats about it. I'm sure for the money you spend on this, you'll be quite happy with the results. However if you want more power and have the money, go for a Lseries motor, BITCH POWER

Hey pro240c,
if you double check my previous post I said, meant that, YOU DONT HAVE TO CHANGE RADIATORS IF CARRYING A CONVERSION TO THE STD A12 BLOCK. And yes, the 180b radiator, I would think, is a bit to big for an a12 or a14, especially meaning that one has to drill additional holes etc to mount it in. The std a12 radiator would suffice. Cheers

So what sort of gains can be expected from working with an A12 engine? Im looking for quick acceleration not top speed...

oh okay. i read it as
"if you don't swap in the A14, you won't have to change the radiator" which spurred the question "why do you have to change the rad?" as for the A12 issue, one SC12 (ex 4AGZE) and set it up in a draw thru application, change to an elec dizzy and a mild cam would seem pretty good value to me.

Thanks muchly for the replies. I spose I should have stated what I aim to achieve with the car, in order to get an appropriate answer.
First things first, I'm currently based in Melbourne(Hoppers Crossing to be exact...). Unfortunately the 120 is situated in Bendigo, so I only get the occasional weekend to work on it. What I'm hoping to do is restore the car, give it a bit more poke(nothing huge, but enough to be fun), but I want to try and keep it to things I can do myself. I'm thinking along the lines of an electronic dizzy, and maybe EFI if it could be fitted. I'd also like to replace the exhaust, run a cold feed into the air filter and maybe do something about the carbies if efi is too much trouble(mind you - I know nothing about carbies...). So with all this in mind, the A12 would be a more appropriate engine? Thanks again. You can view topic.
