I can't argue with the overheating logic.

But when people say "CA coils are crap, go get spark leads and external coils", it makes me annoyed.

I have several spare coils, so I'm not afraid to use them. I am aware of the potential for overheating them and their potential to fail in the hot Australian climate.

If I kill more than 2 coils in 12 months. I will also be switching to external coils.

As a side note:
My CA18 in my 1200 worked for about 150,000kms, and 7 years without a coil failure.
