Right,..........Ive got a screwdriver wedged between the block and the crank wheel so i can take it off without it moving left, is this all i have to do and the wheel will come off?? Is there anything behind it stoppin it from coming off?? apart from the crankshaft which shouldnt foul this righit???
Water pully is off aswell so i can get more leverage now...
Do i just need to keep on trying??

Advice quick please!
Cheers
Dave

OK.

-Get a long bar to attach to the spanner or wrench u r using .
-Put on pulley bolt.
-wedge it to the ground.
-put car in neutral.
-crank motor.

This will loosten the bolt.

Crank pulley bolt? Impact wrench gets it every time for me. Otherwise you'll have to use a long breaker bar/socket wrench and then have a friend stick a long screwdriver or bar through the clutch to hold it while you try to loosen the front.

If the engine is on a stand, i'm guessing that you are taking it apart. If so, then remove the oil pan & place a block of 3x2 soft wood between a crank counterweight & the block, then use the correct size socket & as long a bar, or pipe extention on the bar as necessary. Make sure tou fold back the locking tab if fitted.
Personally,... i am not a fan of air driven impact wrenches. I don't like the shock loadings that they can impose & the lack of "feel" when using them. Thats just my opinion.

yes i am pulling it apart for a reco, but i still cant get it off!! Its a 27mm socket bit and ive got a long extension bar for it but it still wont budge with a piece of wood stuck in between the crank and the block!!!

It IS left hand thread like to take it off you go anti clockwise right??

Anti-clockwise is correct.

Try using some penetrating, lubricating spray like WD40, etc.
Let it sit for approx an hour, then try again

It is RIGHT hand thread, & yes, you turn it anti clockwise to remove it. Have an extra bowl of wheaties before you try it again, then use a longer bar.
If possible, see if you can borrow a suitable size socket in 3/4 inch drive, along with a long bar. That way you won't bust your 1/2 inch drive tools as 3/4 inch drive is what they use on trucks & tractors.
