while at the wrecker looking for a replacement h190 axle i grabbed myself a spare diff centre also

why?, becuase i have welded up the old centre for a bit of twin spin action

i'm sure something will break as a result, and as i joke i thought i'd ask what people think will go first

drivetrain consists of, a15 twin turbo, lightened flywheel, heavy duty a15 clutch (pbr/daikin), stock a12 gearbox, custom tailshaft but with stock ends, h190 vanette diff

so will it be axles, will it be the gearbox, who knows

im gonna pick up a celica box and dellow bell soon, so if the box goes im covered

the car should be a hell of a lot quicker off the mark now

if your asking why i did it?, because talking to my brothers about it and after a long discussion we were like, well none of us has really ever driven a car with a welded diff and we all get mixed messages about using one, hell why not try it myself and see, i mean it's free to do other than loosing a $50 centre if i dont like it

my money is on axles becuase of the welded centre...

although i would have thought the a12 box would have retired by now with the tt setup...

get it to the 1/4 mile with some decent rubber... and hope for a few good passes without breakages with ur new non slip diff..

I think the A12 gearbox sounds like the weakest link ,

although after a few attempts at reverse parking your patience with the locked diff might start to wear a bit thin.

Surely, the wallet will break first

Welded diffs can let go at the axle too. I've seen axles let go at the wheel end too.

So if you find yourself skidding along on 3 wheels, you might break something more than the driveline.

So please be careful on the street. There is a reason why locked diffs are illegal on the street...and it's not just because of the skidding noise when you turn corners.

Just to be different I will say the weld will break first.

seeing as those its a stock gearbox, ill say that.
second guess would be something in the diff, ie axels, center and so on
