Is your 1200 an automatic or manual? It is much easier if it was an automatic for the bigger transmission tunnel. If your car is left hand drive you will have to make a new clutch hydraulic line to go to the other side of the transmission. The SR20DET will fit into the Datsun 1200, but it is a very tight fit and a very difficult job, lots of modification is involved. If you are really serious about doing this conversion, your first step should be getting ahold of a SR20DET front clip so you know what you have to work with. You can see some of my project HERE

If your car is Left hand drive, I think it will be quite difficult, due to turbo clearance on the steering box, and brake master cylinder.

It is not easy to buy the engine. It is not easy to put the engine into a 1200.

If you need to ask, it is probably too hard.

Maybe there is someone on this website from Costa Rica, who can help you with engine importers in your country, and maybe assist you with doing the conversion.

It is not a very common conversion for Datsun 1200 in Australia, The SR20DET is a popular conversion for the Datsun 510.

Good Luck with your planning, but for you, I think the hardest part will be acquiring an engine, and possibly maintaining the engine once you have it installed. Do Nissan sell the S14 or S15 Silvia (200sx) in Costa Rica?
