hi guys, happy new year.

now my ute came with drum brakes all round, and i am going to do a stanza front end coversion on it, and i was wondering if anyone could give me a list of all the parts that i will need to change it over. thanks guys.

Get:

1. complete strut, spring and all
2. lower arm
3. radius rod
4. outer tierod ends

Don't pay more than $100 unless desperate.

The car will sit up to 2 inches higher. You might want to fix that, by trimming a bit off the springs with an angle grinder. Or by getting "re-set" springs from pedders etc.

You'll need brake fluid too.

I've never re-used the 1200 brake master cylinder. Does your master cylinder have a single or dual circuit? does 1 or 2 lines come out of it? (one for front, one for back)

I normally use the 180B mastercylinder, but anything from the Datsun of the 70s with a disc/drum config will do. Also get the bias splitter block too. I've only had trouble when mixing and matching master cylinder and brake line splitter blocks (normally bolted to firewall or strut tower), so get the brake master cylinder and splitter block from the same car.

Make sense?

To do it properly, give yourself a couple of days, you might have to go back to the wreckers, if your brake lines aren't long enough. I normally remake my lines, because I have a pipe double flaring tool

So there. You aren't just swapping the struts, you are also upgrading the brake mastercylinder at the same time.

Yeah..I did bugger all. Less than 5 minutes work..what a nice change.

Hopefully tomorrow will be the same..

while your collecting parts grab a 120y sway bar... they are thicker... and also 120y castor rods.. you'll need them.. also grab the stanza sway bar links they are thicker aswell... although i think i used bluebird links in mine...

if you use your 1200 spring tops and springs on the stanza struts it wont sit so high..

and it will save you drilling out your strut towers aswell...

In regards to the 120Y swaybar.. You will need the brackets, rubbers and bolts that attach the centre of the bar to the body on the 120Y, the 1200 ones won't work with the 120Y bar..

Don't pay more than $50 for the 120Y bar.

I was told to keep the stock 18mm sway off the coupe, however I am running 280lb variable rate front springs. This stops diving under brakes as well as limiting sway. I need to ensure I keep braking power up to the rear wheels hence limiting dive. With a softer spring I would definately go the 120Y sway...and I reckon you could get one at pick n Payless for $10....

Hi Guys

Talking about front suspention, I replaced all my suspention rubbers up front on the car and came accross a problem.(Actually I took it to a suspention place that did it for me).
The front sway bar of my GX is thicker than a utilities one and here in south africa only the utilities rubbers are still sold.
They then forced the bloody rubbers to fit here, but it does'nt go all the way around the sway bar making a gap between the front of the swaybar and the bracket of about 4mm.
And also according to the service manual the brackets must be torqued to 20Nm.
The guys made it so tight due to the rubbers that they struggled to fit one bolt on each side stripped thread and pulled out.
They cleaned the body bolts and used one larger size for them.(Tapped them one size larger).
I just want to know something, Lets say my swaybar is the size of the 120Y which is thicker, what other car's rubbers can I use that will fit nicely.

Sorry for hijacking this thread with this.
