Big wire to lights, and "high current" side of relay. (Consider running a big earth wire to near the battery too) 30amp relay for each light. As they are spotlights, put a 15-30 amp fuse in the positive line. Supply IGN 12V to one side of the relay trigger, and run a wire to a switch in the cabin, and wire the other side of the switch to earth.
I could draw you a picture if you want. Chris

My wiring suggestion (no protection against leaving them on)
Like this...A 30AMP RELAY will cope with 2 100W lights. 12 x 30 = 360W. So it can theoretically handle three 100W lights. If they were high powered low/high beam headlights, I'd recommend a separate relay and separate wiring for each light. Cheers, Chris

why will i need a relay? i was going to run thick wire from the battery to a toggle switch to the lights.
how does that sound?

No way. You'll cook most switches in under 12 months. Relays are designed for switching high current, switches aren't.
They cost almost nothing to buy from a wreck. Most car wrecking yards won't charge you for it. You want to avoid having hot/high current wires from entering the cabin. They tend to overheat, melt wires that are close by, cause short circuits, and start electrical fires. Keep the current in engine bay ![]() Trust me ![]() When you get the 30A relay, get the loom connector too. Then just wire it up with the wire, and some heat shrink around the soldered joints. ps. You could do it your way, but it's not a good solution. You would never see a Car Manufacturer wire lights that way.
