yes should be good. i saw a historic rally in scotland few yrs back, many interesting british cars, good to see and hear them hammering along windy dodgy scottish roads.

theres a datto 1600 or two in the targa race in 05 too.

hi how are you?
Targa Tasmania is a great tarmac rally.
You will see a variety of cars, old and new.
As far as Datsuns are concerned, usually there are quite a few datsun 240/260z's
and maybe a couple of datsun 1600's
I have not seen any 1200's or 120y's in this event over the past few years.
But with the newer nissan's there are lots of skyline gtr's.
The prologue at Georgetown is the time trials of all the cars and this determines where each car is placed on the grid. This is a great day with much action and excitement,as everyone will be trying there hardest to get the best times.
This happens generally on the day before the official start of Targa.
I own 2 120y coupe's which are in immaculate condition, one of which I put in car shows regularly.
I will also be following Targa in the north of the state. The Longford stage is a very quick course and well worth the look.
The cars will be in Launceston for about 3 days and can be viewed on display at the Silverdome.( This has been the case over the last couple of years).

Anyway nice to chat to you and enjoy this beautiful state while your down here.

GO THE DATTO!

At least it wasn't my car..

last year i got the job of washing the cars every night before they went into the silverdome, most pleasureable carwashing experience i've ever had, but some of the big names washed their cars themselves, arseholes. but i got to meet alot of the competitors, some people just sat in their cars but others got off their "i have alot of money" arse and helped, very good experience.

isn't the entry fee like 25,000.

I'don't think many datsun guys can afford that.

nismo thanks for your details of the race, i will try to make it to Georgetown for the pre-determiners and make sure i catch the Longford stage id be glad to meet anyone down there as i will be holidaying with family (much cheaper) so getting away from my family will be bliss eheh. sms me on the day +61419015276 .

ooh are there any wreckers around down there in TAS, perhaps i could do some scavenging in between stages (when im not out trying to catch a tasmanian tiger with the big reward on its stil- breathing head)
