Datoman! Check your email. I've just sent you the program (is excel file). Change the blue figures only - as the rest are formulas.

Hey Feral!
I've been thinking alot about the figures you suggested - 8.2 dyanmic c/r for a dissy a15 engine. It sounds like it comes from your personal experience - right?? Also, I calculate the dynamic c/r of a bog standard a15 to be 7.7:1. This surprised me as 8.2 is not much higher than 7.7. I was then just wondering if the 8.2 figure you mentioned might have been a figure for standard 87 octane fuel instead of the 98 octance BP ultimate or similar fuel I intend to run. Datoman_1000: Have you run your engine yet? We ran ours on the weekend and it burst into life on race fuel. Havn't tried anything else yet. We only drive it up and down a short drive so far but I will keep you posted. Carbies need tuning as it struggles to idle at 1200rpm. Otherwise ok.

My engine runs.....I've driven it round the carpark at work
It struggled to idle too.....till we put the right coil on it. I had a GT40 on it cause I forgot it was electronic.....oops. Now it has an electronic coil and happily idles at 800 rpm. I haven't run the engine in yet though.....strill trying to find time and place. I have some "stale" avgas in the tank at this point......still trying to work out what I'm going to do with fuel as I don't have a CAMS licence or fuel passbook yet. Nor have I transferred the cars log book over. All to be done soon......and do some KM's in it......once I clearance the guards for the bigger tyres.

Feral,
What squish would you recommend? I'm guessing mine to be about 1mm. If I go much smaller, rod stretch could cause a meeting of the piston and head at high rpm's. Daniel. You can view topic.
