Thanks guys.

The colour is deceptive. It is kind of sparkley under sunlight. Almost a yellow tinge. When it's polished.. not done yet.. It'll look nice.

See the sparkly bits?

As for the lack of bling with <17 inch wheels.. that fashion will be gone sooner or later. Classic style lasts forever.

I got 15s so that I could continue to buy tyres, and so they'd fit over my brakes.

I would have preferred some 13x7 ex-race mags

yeah those wheels look magnificent, Chris.
i know what you mean by gnd up rebuild, and mine is just slapped together and it still took a years hard slog and 10k to boot, yours is a masterpiece...30k is very reasonable.
I had that same colour in a Holden HK Brougham with a 307 chev...my wifes favourite car still today. I loved that car and the colour is the best.

They look good aye.

I love 'em!

But you might get mixed reactions from some of the locals who are used to 17" bling (not that you care).

Where did you get your Panasports? I've never seen charcoal. Were they done up special by whomever sold them to you?

My Panasports have since been discontinued. They were a unique offset for the TR3 & DATSUN Roadster.

I lucked out at the time because the guy who ordered them changed his mind.

There's not much demand for this size and offset, let alone gold color, so Panasport made me a deal I couldn't refuse.

Cheers mate. I've getting more and more feelings of "giving up" lately...always the way.
The closer you get to finishing, the more apprehensive I get about whether I'll be happy with the result.

Not just money, but a lot of time.

I've missed many many friends events due to this project. I wouldn't recommend a ground up rebuild for anyone in a hurry to see results. It's been almost 4 years of holidays and weekends.

MY advice.. if you've got a Datto... keep it on the road, and garage it so it lasts longer.

Chris

My latest rebuild if you can call it that . The budget has blown out bigtime. Had a quick addup getting close to $10k
I doubt ill be going to Wakefeild for the nationals now as I have family commitments back here sunday evening I migth go to bathurst instead as they have a state round hilclimb on that same weekend and a lot closer to home. Im really bummed on on that as I was looking forward to meeting up with all my dattohead mates for a few days entertainment.
cheers Andrew

PS: if we bought our Autronics from a Dealer we would have got a nice little book with lots more info in it. Mind you we probaly would have paid an extra $2-400 or so
