Excellent - another person wanting to put a Datto engine in a sprite!
I had a previous user name as 'sprite63' but have changed email addresses since then... anyway I'm in Australia and have an datto engined/gearboxed sprite - and I can promise you that it's a great move to make from the origional BMC motor... and it's great to see the look of a purists eyes when they see a japanesse engine stuck in a british car.
Being in Australia I can't really help with tuners etc, but can tell you that you don't really need to dry-sump your engine because the bonnet will fit over the front of the rocker cover... just. It's good to keep it looking standard so people have no idea what you have in the engine bay I say.
Anyway the biggest problem you will have is the twin sidedraft webbers. You will have to cut out a good proportion of the top of the passenger side footwell to have room for them - on second thoughts a bigger problem for you in the states cause I presume your car is left hand drive - so you will have to cut out a sizable chunk of your own foot-well. I have a single side draft 45 webber attached to a custom manifold that is angled just a little to clear the footwell - so I did not have to modify the body at all.
anyway PM me if you want any details as to what to do - but my advice - just do it!
Matt.
